So, you like the sound of what we’re trying to create and want to help out. It’s an ambitious project, and we need to manage it properly. If you think you can fill any of the positions below, contact Parable via email at parable@pubcomp.com or on Steam.
You’ll be part of the team responsible for making the game server mod. Due to the fact that MGE and SOAP-TF2DM already exist and that we plan on shoe-horning them into our own, this probably isn’t going to be a particularly difficult task. We ask that you can dedicate five hours per week of your time to the project and would appreciate a description of your background and location when applying. If you can provide samples of prior work, that would be excellent, but is not necessary.
Your team will be building the features of the PubComp website, including parts of the community elements like achievemnts and rankings. Our technology is PHP (WordPress) and node.js. We ask that you find five hours a week to dedicate to us and that you provide details of your experience (with samples of prior work, if possible), any other relevant background information, and your location when applying.
Assigned one of the more difficult tasks, you’ll be expected to help create an automatic server setup/teardown using the PubComp system, estimating server requirements, and much more. You won’t be going at it alone – there will be a team to help you along – but you’ll probably have a lot on your shoulders if you take this job. When applying, please provide an estimate of how many hours you can commit to helping us, any relevant background information, and your location.
We need people capable of turning our proposed website features into an attractive, usable website. Specifically, we need someone with a strong UX background in the early stages to create mockups as we continue to finalize the feature set. When applying, please provide some portfolio pieces, your location, and an estimate of how many hours you can spend with us each week.
Oh, wait, that’s Parable. He could probably use some assistance, though, as things will get more hectic as PubComp increases in scope. If you’re a well-organised person capable of co-ordinating a rag-tag bunch of volunteer workers through a highly technical project, feel free to apply.
Our testing team will be attempting to break both our website and the mod itself. Experienced testers will be given preference, but the more people we can get the better. When you apply, feel free to tell us your location and the amount of time you can commit, along with your background in testing (experimental drugs, chewing through wires, etc.).
This team will be writing copy for the site, managing promotions, creating badges and achievements, and trying to come up with other creative ways to get us the attention of the community and keep it. We’ll even resort to comedy if we have to. When applying, let us know how much time a week you can commit and provide any samples you have if possible.
Your team will be responsible for running the website, helping users with their issues, and settling any disputes that may arise. Previous experience managing an online community is preferred but not expected, and your time commitment will probably be the largest out of any of the jobs listed. When applying, please tell us your location and a rough estimate of how much time you can give us each week.
If none of these positions fit you, feel free to contact us with your ideas or simply spread the word through our Steam group!
